This is Noah's story. There are so many more out there like him that need the help of Children's Healthcare of Atlanta!

Noah was born on November 19th, 2010 via scheduled C-Section. We were thrilled to have our new healthy baby boy with us. When he was 2 weeks old we noticed that he kept his left hand in a fist. At first we didn’t read a lot into it. By the time he was 4 months old we knew something wasn’t right. After fighting to get a referral to see a Physical Therapist, our suspicions were confirmed. Noah quickly saw a Neurologist, and had an MRI scheduled. The MRI showed significant brain damaged caused by a Fetal Stroke. At just 7 months old, our plan for Noah’s life had dramatically changed. His official diagnosis is Hemiplegia, left side paralysis. With the amazing help of his Physical Therapist,
Occupational Therapist, and all of the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta staff Noah is on his way to learning how to use his left side and define his “normal”. We know this will be a challenge for the rest of his life, but with CHOA by his side, we also know he will have excellent care every step of the way.

As most of you know, Children’s is a not-for-profit organization that relies on the generous support of our community to help care for our most precious assets—our children. At three hospitals and 16 neighborhood locations, Children’s treats nearly eight out of 10 children in metro Atlanta when they have inpatient healthcare needs. In 2009, Children’s managed 282,856 patients from all 159 counties in Georgia. And each day, it costs $2.5 million to operate Children’s.
